I'm a 40 year-old Mom of 3 young kids (one being a 7 year old son) who of course is fascinated with airplanes, jets, etc. So I've been approached several times of "Mom, when are we going to fly?", to the point of him crying. Also, saying his friends fly, why can't we?
It breaks my heart and I'm always making excuses to avoid flying. We could make it to Disney World in 2 hours versus 15 hours of being stuck in the car. It's not fair to my children, and it's not fair to me or my family.
I see all these families who fly and there are no issues. I've had a fear of flying since I was a KID!
Why, I have no clue! I've have flown before without issues, even went around a hurricane and arrive safely, but I keep having nightmares, and I keep telling myself that if I get on a plane, that's my death sentence.
I'm tired of living like this. I want to take my kids on a plane to experience it and enjoy it, not avoid it.
How can I get past this hurdle?
Thanks for your help, or anyone out there.

If that doesn’t help, I suggest you register yourself in a course with a ‘Fear of Flying Clinic’ near to where you come from or see a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist in view of your irrational fear.
