A compliment from a musician with a fear of flying (R)
Flying - Fear of Flying
Tuesday, 08 July 2008 23:38
Dear Sir,

I have written to you about a month ago and I did enjoy all your answers. This time, I am not writing to ask any questions. This is just a 'thank you' email. I think I am speaking for those thousands of visitors whom you have helped.

I will tell you a little about myself and my connection to aviation. I am a musician, currently studying in a university. I have a horrible fear of flying since the age of 5. I do fly when I have to, which is basically 3 to 4 times a year but I am scared to death about a month before each flight. My fear increases on the days before the flight and it gets to a point during the flight, when every little sound, movements or bumps made me felt as though it was the end of my life. Once we flew into turbulence, I was quite sure the pilot wasn't telling us anything in order to keep us calm. Every time after take off or when the airplane descents sharply, (I later found out this to be totally normal), I imagine myself going to be drowned in the sea.

Since two months ago after reading your website as a regular weekly and frequent "to-do" activity, I have already read it about 20 times now. I am not exaggerating - from the start till the end! After I have discovered your extraordinarily and outstanding website, I have flown 3 times - the last one a week ago. I felt so much calmer on the first flight - not to talk about the third one which I really looked forward to!

I do love airplanes and I adore this miraculous machine.  I am doing a lot of researches about aviation but I loved it "theoretically" only - because I am not calm enough on the flight to enjoy this miracle. Lately, after "injecting" myself with a weekly doze of "AskCaptainLim's Website", I feel so calm. I am less concerned about turbulence and all those bumps and noises.

Your website is so informative, nice-to-read and helpful. One may feel how much you care and sensibly explain every little matter. I am sure you have helped thousands people around the world with the same fear as mine. I have recommended your website to 7 of my friends. One is currently training to be a pilot and the others, either have a fear of flying or just love aviation. All of them told me your website is one of the best they have ever encountered and one of them even put a link to your website on his aviation forum. I think this is an understatement. I really think your website should get an award because, it is not only interesting but it also helps to educate the society.

A busy Captain sparing his time to help people - it is so nice of you! Thank you and good luck! Keep on helping people like you have helped me! Your website is a masterpiece for everyone!

Thank you, honestly, a big, big thank you!

Happy New Year!

Yoel H. Gamzou,

Hi Yoel,

Thank you for your compliments.  I feel good knowing that my time spent on answering questions is appreciated!

Have a great day! Smile
