Our daughter is flying from JFK to Anchorage, Taipei and then to Den Pasar beginning 2/1. It will take at least 25 hours or so. Just to think of her being in the air that long has me so frightened for what could go wrong.
Since I already have this irrational fear to fly, I have imagined every possible scenario happening. I have read different websites regarding China Airlines. I have not been too happy with the results. My biggest fear is that the planes are over thirty years old. Very simply, I have one daughter. She and her husband love to travel and they have always dreamt of going to Bali. They decided to get the best deal they could for the airline tickets. I don't always feel cheap is best.
Secondly, flying to Alaska in the winter. Could the weather play a factor in their landing and taking off. I'm not crazy, but as a parent I am just very concerned for their safety. I just need some reassurance that they made a good decision and that China Airlines is a safe airline for them to take.
I've already lost many night of sleep worrying....and there is nothing I can do to change their mind.
Please I know my fear of flying is the main problem but I need to know if they will be safe.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. I am at my wits end...
Curing Aerophobia (Fear Of Flying)
China Airlines used to have issues on safety in the past but they have improved considerably with a revamp of their operations. Currently, their records are good.
Wintry weather does pose some problems for flying in Alaska but remember airlines pilots have a set standard of rules to follow. There are limitations to be adhered to in terms of crosswinds, visibility or in snow covered runways whereby pilots do not land or take off. Flying in the airlines industry is tightly regulated. So there is nothing to worry about as flying is one of the safest modes of long distance travel.
