Malaysian Flying Academy - Our Women Of The Skies

Hi Captain Lim,

I am a Malaysian female and I really want to get into those major airlines and work as a pilot. However, I understand there is a long and tough way to go. I am going to graduate with my Science Degree in 2015.

I am thinking of getting a CPL with my own money because there is no cadet program available for Malaysians. I have limited funds for the entire course which is around USD100k?

I am just wondering which one is the best flight school on your mind.

a. Integrated ATPL program with CAE Oxford Aviation Academy in Phoenix, USA.
b. Aerocadet full ATPL program with Aviator College in Florida, USA
c. CPL(certificate IV in aviation) Basair Aviation College in NSW, Australia

Or any other alternative options you would recommend to me?

Your advice is greatly appreciated! Hope to hear back from you soon.

Thank you Captain Lim!

Wern

Hi Wern,

If you wish to seek employment with any of the major airlines in Malaysia, I would recommend that you do your flying course in any of the 3 local flying schools below:-

1. HM Aerospace in Langkawi

2. Air Pacific Flight Training

3. Malaysian Flying Academy

However, if you insist on doing the courses overseas, then Australia or United Kingdom would be the better choice. Please go to Flying Schools in my website here for further details.

You will normally graduate with a FAA licence from the Flying School/Academy in the USA. As such, you will encounter many license conversion issues with these foreign qualifications on your return.

A local qualification is equally good and you do not have to go through a lot of hassles with the Department of Civil Aviation of Malaysia.

(You can see some of the woman pilots who are featured in the video above - they have flown with me on the A320/A330/A340 before - see one of them in the photo album of my book - Life in the Skies)
