With so much interest in collecting flight data and performing scientific calculations. I would like to suggest Dr. Lim to buy a handheld GPS receiver. In US the range starts from around 400$ but I am not sure which features you'll need for your purpose. And also the legality of whether the passengers are permitted to carry a GPS on board. Sincere thanks and respect to Capt. Lim for such an informative website.
