Yes, we fear what we don't understand?

Hi Captain Lim,

Just a quick note to say thank you for your wonderful website. I must admit that I*ve had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes over the past 2 hours of cruising this site, sheer relief that someone in the know is giving their time to assist those full of fear of flying. We fear what we don*t understand and I*m feeling so much more enlightened from the experience.

I was scared of flying on my first trip to America, especially seeing as though it*ll be my first long haul flight on my own. I am flying United from Melbourne to New York via Sydney and LA on 28 May to 9 June this year and have been absolutely dreading it, so much time over water, coming from a cool Melbourne winter to a hurricane infested US summer. However, after reading your site, I*m feeling so much more comfortable.

My fear stems from control, so many people to trust for me to get from A to B, but knowing there*s people like yourself up there guiding us, calmly and as routinely as making a sandwich, just makes me feel so much better.

You are a credit to the sometimes-battered aviation industry.

Sincerest thanks and highest regards,

Rhiannon Martin
Melbourne, Australia.

Hi Rhiannon,

Thank you for your note. I am happy that my answers on fear of flying have helped you.

Enjoy more future flights with confidence!
