2. Employment Situation For Pilots - Currently only taking in very small number of Direct Entry FOs onto the Boeing 777 fleet.

3. Outlook: May be recruiting Direct Entry Pilots soon

A Typical Recruitment Process: Two day process.

FIRST DAY

1. Numerical and verbal reasoning tests.

2. Computer based co-ordination test (lasts about 2.5 hours).

3. Interview with one HR person and a pilot. Non-technical questions.

4. Group exercise.

5. You are given simulator information (speeds, check list). You will get a phone call that evening to tell you if you have passed. If yes, you will be invited back for the second day, usually the next day.

SECOND DAY

1. Simulator check and more computer based co-ordination tests, which are the same as day before.

2. Simulator check - fly as PF (pilot flying) and PNF (pilot non flying).

Questions when acting as PNF - mainly on airmanship, eg. what groundspeed are we doing, how far from X do we need to start descent, etc. Scenario involved short flight from A to B with a reason for a diversion to C (medical emergency, weather, airport closed, etc.). or possibly to D! All raw data flying on the B747-400 with basic AP usable. Tracking of VORs. Autopilot allowed in cruise. Approaches could be ILS, VOR, NDB or any combination. Expect late changes to runway or approach. Allegedly, landing not assessed.

You will be given 5 minutes at start, non-assessed, to do some basic handling.

SSP

Day 1 - Interview, Group Exercise, Computer Based Tests, Maths and English Timed Tests.

Day 2 - Sim Ride Only. (B747-400) Given a good brief, then taken to simulator. Allowed 1 take-off and ILS to get used to the B747. Then the test is a take-off, basic SID to track an NDB and VOR. Asked basic maths question throughout this stage, then Climb and descents. Steep turns. Then put somewhere near the airfield. You then have to fly a Hold, then go around to do an ILS. All Manual flying.

Current Fleet:

B747-400, B777, B767-300, B757-200, B737-300/400/500, Airbus A319/A320/A321

Orders:

4 B777/200 ER from 2009 and 4 options for B777/200ER
