What you can expect from a typical airline offer - Emirates Airlines.

EMIRATES AIRLINES

See the Terms of Emirates Airlines - the top Middle East Airlines below:

BACKGROUND ON EMIRATES FLIGHT OPERATIONS

The announcement of the largest aircraft order in aviation history of $19 billion in July 2003 is an indication of how far Emirates Airline (EK) has grown from its humble beginnings in 1985.

Recently, Emirates committed US$15 billion in fleet investments that underlines its confidence in the entire long-term future of Dubai, tourism and air travel. Emirates has ordered a further twenty six Boeing 777-300 ER’s, forty five Airbus A380s, twelve Airbus A340-600s and eight 340-500’s due for delivery by the end of the decade, giving it a total fleet of over 100. The A340-500 is purpose-built for long haul flights and will incorporate the very latest in-flight entertainment system. Emirates was the first airline to order the A380 - the 'double decker' aircraft which will be used to carry over 500 passengers on routes from Dubai to London, Singapore and other cities in Europe, Asia, North America and the Pacific and will offer even higher standards of comfort. Two A380 super jumbo freighters have been ordered for delivery in 2008 - another positive sign of the airline's commitment to the air cargo industry. A new terminal at Dubai International Airport has been approved to cope with the extra capacity of aircraft and is expected to open in 2005. Emirates currently operates to over 76 destinations in 54 countries. Click here to view to view our Destination Route Map.

The extra Airbus A380 orders cover four versions: a 533-seat three-class aircraft; a 653-seat two-class aircraft; a 500-seater able to fly non-stop from Dubai to Australia; and two freighters, which enter service from 2006. Deliveries of A340-500 start this year and of A340-600s from June 2007. In addition to this, the company has confirmed the delivery of eight extra A340-300s to start service early 2004.

Our in house training facilities include two A330/A340, two B777 simulators, and an A310 simulator. These simulators are housed in Emirates Aviation College - a fully fledged training center that provides state-of-the-art training to our personnel, aimed at developing their personal and professional skills. We are, therefore, equipped to carry out transition training and simulator checks in-house. The college teaches a wide range of subjects related to the Aviation Industry, as well as computer operations and human relations techniques.

Training is not restricted to Company employees, but is also extended to staff of other organizations. Currently, more than 13 different airlines use this facility. To meet our ongoing expansion additional simulators are on order.

From its inception, Emirates has employed highly skilled Flight Deck Crew from around the world. Today we total over 50 nationalities among our Flight Deck Crew. Emirates offers an exceptional opportunity for ambitious pilots to develop their careers on one of the youngest high-tech fleets, in one of the most rapidly expanding airlines in the world. Emirates is recruiting now for Direct Entry Captains and First Officers.

CAREER PROGRESSION & ROSTERING

Movement between Fleets
Emirates Airline recognizes the aspirations of its Pilots, and will endeavor to provide career progress. Moves between aircraft groups will be offered whenever possible, at the discretion of Management.

Command Upgrade

Selection for command upgrade will be on the basis of suitability and seniority, and the following minimum experience requirements:
· Total flying experience of 6,000 hours
· A minimum of 4,000 hrs (P1 or P2), on Turbo-prop or Jet aircraft, with a MTOW of at least 10,000kgs
· A minimum of three years continuous service of Emirates

Rostering

Emirates is following the policy of Preferential Bidding System for Flight Crew Rostering. Crew are allowed to bid for trips and days off, with a variety of options; e.g. number of trips, days off after the trips, avoid a trip, consecutive days off on specific dates or at the beginning/end of the month, etc.
At present each category (e.g. B777 First Officers) is divided into 5 groups: A, B, C, D and E. These groups are rotated each month. E.g. In March, Group A might be top bid group, with Group E at the bottom. In April, Group A moves to the bottom with all other groups moving up. Thus Group B would be top bid group in April.
The satisfaction rate is quite high. Assuming that bids have been entered correctly and in sufficient number to achieve the desired credits, the top 2 groups each month achieve close to a 100% satisfaction rate.
Rosters are generated strictly within GCAA Flight Duty Time rules of UAE civil aviation authority, which are very similar to those of JAR Ops.
