How many person can make use of each emergency exit when they have to evacuate from a Boeing 777? Is there any rule to restrict the maximum number of passengers from any one door, say 50 or something?

Hi Mike, There are 8 emergency exits, together with the same number of slide/rafts on the Boeing 777. Assuming that there are 304 person on board, 38 passengers can evacuate from each door equally. But in an emergency, there is a likelihood of confusion unless proper supervision is exercised by the crew to direct passengers through the 8 exits. Bearing this in mind, slide/rafts have been designed to accommodate about 60 survivors in the sea with an overload of up to 80 each, if that is the numbers that would come out from any of the doors. The slide/raft are dual lanes, meaning that, at any one time, two person can evacuate and slide down together on them.
There is no fixed rule as to how many passengers could exit from any one door. If all the doors can be used during an emergency evacuation, then the flow is likely to be smooth and evenly distributed. On the other hand, if only 2 doors are useable, then every one have to evacuate through these two openings.
