Do you know of any good flying schools in Australia or New Zealand?

Hi Captain Lim,

Since I was young, I always have a very strong passion for flying. I have been reading articles and websites about aviation to realize my ambition, that is to become an airline pilot through the Singapore Airlines (SIA) cadet pilot program.

I have gone through the pre-requisites for the program, that is, one must have Pure Science (Physics) and Mathematics "O" levels. I do not have Pure Science for my "O" levels but in
combined science (Physics and Chemistry) instead. My highest qualification is Diploma in Electronics and Communication from Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore. I have applied for the cadet pilot program once but was not short listed.

I have now decided to upgrade myself by either getting a flying license (CPL/ATPL) or even an Aviation Degree. I have heard from a friend that there is this Massey University in New Zealand which offers a very good course in flying. Upon completion, successful applicant with SIA has only to sit for some ATPL subjects and will gained direct entry into the Lear 45 phase.

I wonder whether you know of other good flying schools in Australia or New Zealand which is recognized by CAAS or SIA? I am really keen on taking a life-long career with SIA as a pilot.

I hope you can advise me on this matter. Thank you for your time. I am looking forward to hear from you soon.

Cheers,

Tan.

Hi Tan,

I am not very familiar with any good flying training schools in New Zealand. I know Singapore Airlines send their cadets to their own training school in Perth, Australia. However, one professional flying training school that is approved by the British CAA is the Australian Aviation College in Parafield, South Australia. It has been acquired by BAe and is now known as British Aerospace Flight Training.

If you are a graduate of this Campus, you would be marketable to most Airlines.

Hi Ed,

Sorry, AAC is now known as Flight Training Adelaide and the link is http:// www.flighttrainingadelaide.com /

Apology for the broken link (In fact, may FAQ will have this problem until the migration of the old site to the new one is completed) :sigh

Regards,

Captain Lim

Hi Captain Lim,

Do you have the link to Australian Aviation College?
The link to the AAC on http://askcaptainlim.com/ content/view/504/45/ seems broken.
