Hi Captain Lim,
My name is Matthew and I am in the final year of my Aviation Degree course. Upon completion at the end of this year, I will have my CPL with multi-command IREX & frozen ATPL along with my degree. I have planned to apply for Singapore Airlines after graduation before I enter the national service. Would I still qualify as a cadet pilot since they state that it is generally for people with no flying experience?
If I do qualify to apply for the cadet pilot program, how would you recommend me to do the CV in a way that will impress the Human Resources Department?
What does the psychomotor/aptitude test involves?
Your sincerely,
Matthew Liang
Hi Mathew,
I believe you would not qualify as a cadet pilot as an ab initio student. Since you will have your CPL and IR together with your frozen ATPL by the time you graduate this year, you can still submit your application to Singapore Airlines under the Cadet Pilot Scheme. You probably have to go through the selection process and pass the psychometric tests. If you meet their criteria, they would welcome you because you have saved them the cost of the basic flying training. They may then slot you into the appropriate course after checking your qualifications.
In your CV, you should list down all your academic and flying qualifications, the flying hours, the flying school or college. I think you can also apply on-line and they require a lot of detailed information in the application forms. Please log onto SIA cadet pilot scheme in their website.
As regards to what the psychomotor/aptitude involves, please browse through the past FAQs on this site.
