What are my flying options as an aspiring pilot in Kuwait?

Good evening Captain Lim,

I had just finished my High School with 7 IGCSE's (International General Certificate of Secondary Education ) and 1 GSCE, all with pass grades. I am waiting for Kuwait Airways to advertise for cadet pilots. Sad to say, they have not. That means I cannot join Kuwait Airways this year. Anyway, I was told that they might advertise for cadet pilots in 2005. Unfortunately, I can't wait that long! My dream of becoming a pilot seems to be getting slimmer but I will continue to seek for it.

I would really like to get your advice as to what I might do. Here, in Kuwait, we don't have Flying Clubs where I can get my PPL and build up my flying hours. The only way to fly is to be with Kuwait Airways or be a military pilot (which is not my choice).

Can you please answer some of the following questions for me?

1. Where else, other than Kuwait, can I apply as a ( International ) cadet pilot and get training so that I can be hired by ANY airline?

2. Where do you recommend me to study in order to get my ATPL?

3. If I take up flying with my own money at a well-known college, will I guarantee myself a good pilot job at any airline or I might not even get employed at all?

4. What other alternatives do I have in making my dream come true?

5. What do you think, as a professional in your industry, of Kuwait Airways? What do you think of working for Kuwait Airways?

Thank you for this web site that gives people out there, seeking to become pilots, some hope.

Bilal

Hi Bilal,

Most of your your queries have been asked before.

Anyway, here are some quick answers to your queries:

1. Get your training in Australia, UK or the USA.

2. Your ATPL are done together with your flying training in Australia, UK or the USA.

3. Please read previous FAQ.

4. As in 3.

5. If you are from Kuwait, then Kuwait Airways is good for you, otherwise, try seeking employment with Emirates Airways, Ethihad, Gulf Air or Qatar Airways. I have no comments about Kuwait Airways as I am not very familiar with this airline.

Have a good day and enjoy your browsing in this site!
