My dream to be an Airline pilot has just come true!

Hi Captain Lim,

I find your website very useful. I appreciate all your efforts.

I will attend a cadet pilot interview with Singapore Airlines next month. Do you know what kind of selection process that I will probably go through? I read your reply about the cadet pilot interview but is there any other follow-up interview or test (like physical or aptitude test) after that? Thank you very much for your reply.

Sincerely,

Rudy Wahab

Hi Rudy,

I wonder if you have gone through the selection processes yet, for example the psychomotor and other tests. If you have, the psychomotor test is the one that assess your flying aptitude. Your physical test is in fact your medical test that comes in only after you have been successful in the final interview.

Once you passed the medical test, you would be sent for flying training, most likely in Australia.

Hi Capt Lim,

Thank you for your reply. I have not gone through the selection process yet (if any). I guess that will probably follow after the first interview. I found a US Air Force cadet pilot sample test on the website. http://www.aetc.randolph.af.mil/sas/pcsm/BatInfoPage/BatInfo.htm

One of the risk-taking attitude question (sample) is, if you know how to play football, would you participate or observe? Which one is the best answer?

Are airlines looking for risk taking person or those "play it safe" type character for cadet pilots? Thanks,

Rudy.

Hi Rudy,

They are looking for team players. A safe flight is all about team work. The correct answer is to participate and not be an observer!

Dear Capt Lim,

I don't know how to thank you but I have been selected as a cadet pilot for Singapore Airlines!

Thank you for your tips and all those information in your website. During the final interview with the 3 airline Captains and the Vice President of Flight Operations, I was asked about my favorite airplane. I told them, Boeing 777 and I gave them a lot of details on the airplane, like the TAC system, the ETOPS and the joke, etc; all from your website. The panel was really impressed with me. I guess that was the main reason I was selected.

However, I was told that I would be planned to fly the Boeing 747-400 instead, if I made it through. No problem for me although I really fancy flying the Boeing 777.

I will start the training on the 18th of September, 2003. If sometimes in the future, we do bump into each other as a pilot (I am not a pilot yet) I will treat you to a lunch!

Thanks again. My dream just come true, thanks to you.

Sincerely,

Rudy Wahab
