How good I need to be in English to succeed in a pilot's interview?

Dear Captain,

Thank you for your site. I have learned a lot about piloting and airplanes. I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from a University in Singapore. I always wanted to be a pilot and I have been invited to Singapore Airlines for an interview next week. I am wondering whether you could help me a little regarding the first interview?

I was educated in a Chinese school before entering the University. So my English is not as good as my Chinese. I am wondering how good I need to be in English in order to succeed in the pilot interview?

Lit Wei.

Hi Lit Wei,

You can't improve your oral English just overnight. You have to learn to converse more often with your friends in good English and not in Singlish :-) ! To help you with the interview (quick fix?), I suggest you prepare at least 10 to 15 answers well and memorize them. You can refer to some of the advice I gave to others and pick up some more topics on this site. Know them very well during the interview and you should be alright.

Best of luck in your interview!
