Hard to control my feeling of fears about the YouTube footage...

Written by Capt Lim, on 22-02-2008

Published in : Flying, Fear of Flying

Dear Captain Lim,

It's hard to control feelings of fear about flying when the first thing that pops up on your Webpage is YouTube footage of horrific plane crashes.  The piece about the 737 going into a nosedive was difficult to see because I'm departing on a big trip in April involving 6 flights on 737s.  Now I scared!  (I have an especially big fear of inexplicable mid flight explosions or catastrophes on a seemingly smooth flight).

Maybe your pieces about air crashes do not need to be so prominently placed on your website.

Leah

Dear Leah,

I am sorry the YouTube series on Air Crash Investigations has affected and caused you to be more fearful of flying.  I am aware of this and often reminded those who are afraid to fly to avoid watching such movies.

As much as I like not to have them in my site, there are others who feel that we can learn from the mistakes of the past. As you can see from the comments of David Learnmount, an aviation analyst in the You Tube video below (Air Crash Investigations - Most Extraordinary Cases), "Air Crash Investigations" is the reason why it is less likely for future accidents to happen again because of the thorough investigations that have taken place.

From the findings, the airline industry makes sure something so horrific won't happen again.
