Lasik Surgery

Hi Captain Lim,

I appreciate your website and have been reading around the topics on becoming a pilot.

I just wanted to ask; are there any limits on eye sight in becoming a pilot?

I always thought that anything less than 20/20 vision would deter me from becoming a pilot, but I found out after some research that as long as my eye sight is correctable to 20/20, I will still be able to fulfill my dreams of being a pilot.

Therefore, I wanted to confirm, is there a limit on myopia for becoming a pilot? More specifically, I was planning to apply for the Cathay Pacific Cadet Program.

Also, is it advisable to do laser corrective surgery before applying for a piloting position?

I have 600+ myopia and possibly a slight degree of astigmatism.

Thank you for your advice and I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

Billy Fu
