Dear Capt Lim,
As one of the requirements for the cadet pilot application is visual acuity. It is stated in the Singapore Airlines website that, a candidate needs to have 6/60 visual acuity, 6/6 with optical aid.
Does that mean that if one that has 6/60 visual acuity without optical aid, he/she is eligible to apply for the position?
My visual acuity is 6/12 (right) and 6/6 (left) [without optical aid]. So, am I eligible to apply
for cadet pilot?
Also, I like to know that is the training program very hectic and need a lot of physical strength?
I hope to get a reply from you as soon as possible. Thank you.
David
Hi David,
Yes, you can apply to be a cadet pilot provided your eyes can be corrected to a normal 6/6 vision with glasses.
Of course you need to be fit and the flying course is hectic but you don't need to have a lot of physical strength to fly an airplane!
