Thanks for your useful information on the type rating for the A320.
I just want to have a quick check with you, once the pilot has passed the type rating course, the license will not be endorsed by DCAM if there is no real aircraft with 9M registration for the base check (3 take-offs and landings).
I understand that the type rating will expire after 12 months if there is no airline job being secured.
Is there any aircraft in Malaysia (either A320 or B737) that can be leased for one or two hours for the base check?
This facility will help in the endorsement of the type rating into the CPL. Such arrangement will allow the pilot to recurrent on the type rating in the simulator if the airline job can't be secured within 12 months from the date of type rating.
Hope to hear from your soon.
It is true that the type rating is incomplete unless you do a type endorsement on the real plane (either on an Airbus A320 or Boeing 737) after your type rating course.
As a private student, this would be a problem because only the airline-sponsored students would go straight for the type endorsement on the real aircraft after the course.
At the moment, I believe the actual type endorsement is not available yet in Malaysia but it could be a possibility in the future.
Perhaps you can get more information that I have provided in earlier answers.
Please check this out with Kelvin Foo as regards to the type endorsement after the completion of the type rating course for a private student below:-
