Aviation - Stories, Truths & Myths

Dear Captain Lim,

Yours is the best site I have ever come across!

I admire your patience and hard work, Sir.

Just a small question: Have you or any of your colleagues (thus fulfilling the requisites of Qualified Witnesses) ever seen a UFO during your long flying career?

I do understand that some people tend to take UFO-believers as Quacks!

Best Regards,

Ratan

Hi Ratan,

I have never seen a UFO in my entire flying career. In the first place, I don’t believe in UFOs…

My opinion is that such sightings are the imaginative stories of individuals who have mistaken legitimate objects or creations of human technology for UFOs.

In all these years since UFOs were first talked about, we haven't got one photograph that is of any use to positively prove that they do exist. Most sightings have a natural explanation, such as an airplane, satellite or meteor. Some are even hoaxes.

However, for the ardent fans of UFO, they are genuine alien spaceships.

UFOs cannot originate from the other planets of our own solar system. So far, there is no evidence of life on Mars or Venus and the nearest star outside our solar system is 4.2 light years away.

A space ship travelling at the speed of light would take around 4.2 years to reach us. Hence space travel between solar systems is almost impossible.
