My 2025 wish – a sponsor for my 3rd book, A Pilot’s Story
Draft of my Book Cover
Hi there, I’m the author of my forthcoming book, A Pilot’s Story, my third and possibly final book about my journey through the skies. This one follows my earlier works, Life in the Skies and Sky Tales, both of which connected me with readers who share my fascination with aviation. It’s been seven years since I last wrote a book, but after much encouragement from loyal readers, I decided to take one more flight down memory lane.
This story begins where my dream of flying took off: as a young boy inspired by the magic of aviation. I trace my path from joining the Royal Malaysian Air Force, where I flew military aircraft, to transitioning to commercial aviation, flying the Boeing 777 with Malaysia Airlines, and later the Airbus A330, A340, and A320 with AirAsia. Across these chapters, I’ve logged over 25,500 flight hours, with plenty of challenges, triumphs, and lessons along the way.
But life hasn’t been all about flying. Back in the 1990s, when I realized how unpredictable the aviation industry could be, I decided to pursue a law degree as a backup plan. It wasn’t until decades later – after retiring from the skies – that I dusted off that degree and was called to the Malaysian Bar at the age of 75. Yes, becoming a lawyer at 75 wasn’t something I ever planned, but it became one of the most satisfying milestones of my life.
This book isn’t just about my professional life, though. It’s a reflection of the personal lessons I’ve picked up along the way, from answering readers’ questions during the COVID-19 pandemic to realizing the importance of balancing ambition with happiness. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that having a backup plan and staying adaptable is crucial – not just in aviation but in life.
I’ve written A Pilot’s Story not only for aspiring pilots but for anyone who’s ever faced uncertainty. Whether it’s in the cockpit or a courtroom, life’s about staying resilient, evolving, and finding fulfilment in unexpected places.
This book is also a tribute to the people who shaped me: my mother, who enrolled me in an English school and set me on this path, and my wife, who has patiently supported me through every chapter of my life – including the countless hours spent writing this one.
Through this book, I hope to leave behind a legacy that inspires readers to dream big, adapt to change, and live fully. Thank you for letting me share my journey with you.
Happy New Year 2025!
